Disclaimer
A starting point, not legal advice. This wording was drafted for a birth and postnatal doula practice; check it reflects your own services before relying on it.
This website is information, not medical advice. Nothing on these pages should be used to make clinical decisions about your pregnancy, your birth or your baby. Those conversations belong with your midwifery team, your GP or your obstetrician.
Doulas support, midwives provide medical care. I am not a midwife, doctor or medical professional of any kind. I do not examine, monitor, diagnose, treat, deliver babies or give clinical advice, and I never step into decisions that belong to your maternity team. I work alongside your midwives, never instead of them, and I will always encourage you to raise medical questions and concerns with them directly.
Urgent worries go to your maternity unit, not this website. If anything about your body or your baby concerns you, especially a change in your baby's movements, contact your midwife or maternity triage straight away, call NHS 111, or call 999 in an emergency. The on-call phone exists for booked clients in labour; messages sent through this site are answered within one working day, not within the hour.
No outcome is promised. Doula support is well loved for good reason, and I'll always be honest about what it can and can't offer. But no ethical birth worker promises a particular birth, and you should be wary of any who does. Client words on this site are shared with permission, anonymised, and describe individual experiences of being supported, never guarantees.
A note on the celebration. This site is joyful because the work is joyful. It is still a fully insured professional service run to Doula UK's code of conduct, and the seriousness with which I take your birth is never in question.
